Thoma Bravo Overview:
Thoma Bravo is a leading private equity firm with a 40-year history, and over $30 billion in current AUM. They pioneered the “buy-and-build” investment strategy and, more than 200 software investments later, are cemented as one of the top private equity firms in the world.
Frontline Education is embarking on a historic growth and transformation strategy that is expected to significantly increase the company in size over the next 4 years. We look to not only consolidate our position as the leader in K-12 school administration software but also strategically reposition the business and offerings. The M&A analyst will play a vital role in supporting these efforts and will report to and work directly with the director of M&A. At Frontline, M&A strategy is synonymous with corporate strategy and we are looking for someone that is eager to take on an “all-in” approach in helping us realize our goals and have fun along the way.
Assisting in sourcing and screening potential targets in accordance with our M&A strategy
Developing financial models for evaluating acquisition opportunities including: detailed P&L, cash flow and balance sheet forecast, synergies/cross-sell/combination/valuation analysis and additional ad-hoc analysis associated with M&A activities
Developing a deep understanding of the Frontline Education business, both from a financial and operational aspect to help optimize the M&A team’s effort at maximizing the value of its inorganic growth strategy
Harvesting relationships with all departments to maximize efficiency of the M&A process and build a team-oriented environment
Developing and maintaining knowledge of the industry to help inform our M&A strategy
Assisting in developing business plans and strategies for acquisition opportunities
Helping drive the due diligence and deal execution process, including coordinating with internal and external teams that are critical to transactions
Deep understanding and demonstration of financial modeling practices
Knowledge of the financial and process-oriented aspects of M&A will be an important aspect of this role. While not a requirement, highly considered candidates will have experience developing business plans from within a corporate M&A environment (i.e. corporate development or M&A at another firm) or a similar role
Experience with and understanding of the software industry is ideal and specific focus on the education technology industry is an advantage.
The ability to articulate complex issues and ideas efficiently is vital as most of your outputs will be analyzed from a high-level lens by the executive and board level members of the company
Willingness to work with a high-energy, high-performing team will be important to succeed in this role
Developing key relationships with the Frontline team will be critical as you grow into the role. M&A requires the ability to operate cross-functionally (HR, finance, product, legal, etc.) and having a constructive working relationship across departments is paramount in successful M&A execution
High level of intellectual curiosity and a desire to make an impact within the business
Interest in working in a high pace, high stakes environment is key. M&A is an important part of our strategy and is a focus at every level of our organization – addressing the executive team and the board of directors is common and the willingness to thrive under pressure will be an important element of success
